Super Mario Bros. 1 and 2 (Japan 1985-86 Set B)

After the Set A kinkeshi release, Nintendo went the expected path of most kinkeshi figures and started to appear in vending machines. This series of figures was known as the Set B figures by collectors which ran from 1985 to 1986 and featured characters from both Super Mario Bros. 1 and Super Mario Bros 2. (Japan version aka Lost Levels in USA). A lot of the designs for these figures would later become the standard look for most of the characters with some exceptions (Such as Princess Toadstool/Peach who is molded with shoulder length hair). This was also the first time we saw figures of later on staple characters like Toad, Princess Toadstool/Peach and also featured kinkeshis of power ups, coins and even a smaller Mario (to represent a non "Super Mario" Mario which is common when you get hit by a enemy). Set B also had a rare chase kinkeshi in the form of the Mushroom/Kinoko Kingdom coin that was clear blue and only 1 per order of 50 vending machine figures. Set B figures can be identified by the "B." found on their bottom or back of a figure. Again like traditional kinkeshi they all came in color varations of Red, Yellow, Green, Flesh, Blue and Dark Red (with the exception of the rare chase coin that was clear blue). These are the more common Nintendo kinkeshis and due to it's larger collection of molds was more wide spread. Here is the current molds I have documented

The marking on the back of all Set B figures looks like this

As stated above, here is a picture to show the differance between Super Mario and Small Mario
